Easy alternative to remount NTFS

Mounty for NTFS is a completely free desktop utility developed together by indie developers Chris and Uwe. It is a specialized tool that streamlines the process to unmount and remount write-protected NTFS volume formats. This way you no longer need to go the extra mile just to accomplish this task, saving you more time and effort.

Before you will need to manually type in lengthy mount commands but thanks to the Mounty app, you can now simply do it within a few mouse clicks. For other mount solutions, you can check out ToastMount and WebDrive.

Quickly remount NTFS volumes

The Mounty suite is a lightweight answer to the time-consuming traditional process of remounting NTFS-formatted volumes. Once installed on your desktop, it will unobtrusively run and do its job in the background without adversely affecting your system or interrupting your current activity. It has the power to automatically detect write-protected NTFS volumes eventually opening a Finder window leading you to the mount point.

Fortunately, it grants a seamless integration with the Notification Center so, you can allow yourself to be notified with every NTFS identified on your computer. Not only that, you will be able to instantly identify if your PC is filled with NTFS by simply looking at its icon. The color of the app’s icon will change depending on its mount status—black, green, yellow, blue, and red.

It will turn black or inactive if it scanned no NTFS to mount. Green or active if there’s an NTFS volume found. Yellow or working if the application is working on it. Blue or idle if the volume writable mounted while red or error signifies a failed mount process. Unfortunately, it is unsuccessful in recognizing and remounting an NTFS drive especially if the third-party tool renames the volume.

A convenient way to remount NTFS

Remount is an essential process to gain unrestricted access to a certain file. However, performing this task can require deep technical knowledge and need to exert some effort. Thus, the Mounty for NTFS package is developed to simplify everything with a few mouse clicks. Manually typing in the mount script code can now be replaced by a straightforward application that you can access from the status bar menu.

Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
